NEW ORLEANS, LA — Judge Arthur Hunter’s campaign for Mayor of New Orleans released its first campaign video today, powerfully framing his life’s work as a police officer and judge who has always fought for justice, accountability, and the people of New Orleans.
In the two-minute video, Judge Hunter speaks directly to voters about what’s at stake in this election—and why he’s running:
“Because the best way to get better police officers is from a Mayor who's been a police officer. To bring life back to our playgrounds and neighborhoods is a Mayor who played on them as a kid. And to have a government that's accountable is a Mayor who's been a Criminal Court Judge.”
The video recounts his experience growing up in New Orleans East, his time as a New Orleans police officer, and his 23-year tenure as a judge who pushed for bold reforms—including programs to reduce crime and incarceration, job re-entry programs, justice for victims and better access to mental health and addiction services.
“So if you're ready to make a change, I'm ready to take the lead and to do the work.”
The video comes as the campaign celebrates a major early milestone—raising over $110,000 in just over a month, with 110 of its 163 donors contributing at the grassroots level.
